What Is the Prostate?

Quite a few circumstances can cause acute and chronic stress. You cannot always avoid things that cause anxiety (e.g., work, school, interpersonal relationships, emergencies, etc.). However, there are ways to cut down on the effects they will have on your overall well being. Some supplements will allow you to strengthen your body against the effects of stress.

Understanding how stress affects your body can help you learn about the best ways to keep yourself happy and healthy. We will give you a full overview of all our supplements, the ingredients that make them up, and additional ways to combat symptoms like anxiety, depression, and a weakened immune system, which are all effects of stress.

Common Prostate Problems

Although prostate growth is entirely average on a small scale, medical issues can cause unnatural enlargement, impacting urine and semen production and possibly causing erectile function. Below are brief explanations for common prostate problems.

Prostatitis

There are several types of prostatitis.

  • Acute bacterial prostatitis
  • Chronic bacterial prostatitis
  • Chronic prostatitis (CP)
  • Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS)
  • Asymptomatic prostatitis

The most commonly seen side effects from prostatitis include pain in the pelvic area, chills, urinary problems, and pain during erections.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

BPH is the enlargement of the gland due to normal aging. It is not caused by or indicative of cancer being present in the prostate gland. This is a treatable condition. Some of the symptoms involve disruptions of the fluid stream while urinating, a higher risk of infections, issues with the kidney, and the development of bladder stones.

Prostate Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately one in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. This is more common in men over sixty-five years of age and unusual to see in men under forty.

Initial prostate cancer stages can be asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms such as a burning sensation while urinating. Later stages can include bloody urine, erectile dysfunction, and difficulty urinating.

What Are The Causes Of An Enlarged Prostate?

Researchers are not entirely sure why the prostate enlarges over time. Few men under forty encounter this particular problem. It has been linked to hormonal changes in the body that take place as one gets older.

Several other causes are cancer, inflammation due to infection, and bladder stones. These each have similar symptoms, and a medical professional will need to diagnose them. By far, the most common form of prostate enlargement is BPH, which most men will experience at some point due to hormonal shifts during the aging process.

Hormonal Changes That Take Place During Aging

Various sex hormones are responsible for causing the balance shifts that lead to prostate enlargement. According to research studies on the subject, it is androgens (e.g., dihydrotestosterone) that cause the majority of changes within the gland over time.

When to Speak With Your Doctor About Starting Supplements

You will want to speak with your doctor before adding any supplement to your daily routine, especially in the case of prostate issues. This is because which product is going to be most helpful for you, and your prostate health will be determined by your diet, current medications, exercise habits, and other lifestyle choices.

If you believe that you may have urinary or prostate problems, it is best to contact your doctor. Most men over forty who notice they are frequently urinating - especially at night - or notice pain when urinating should get a medical checkup. Yearly checkups should also be scheduled to avoid missing clues of prostate enlargement.

Lifestyle Tips For Managing Enlarged Prostate

While the vitamins and minerals in our products are designed to bring relief to anyone suffering adverse prostate conditions, they also work as a preventative measure for men of all ages. In addition to taking these supplements, there are other changes you can make that can help relieve symptoms or stop specific problems before they can cause too much of a strain on your body. By altering the following aspects of your health routine, you can fight off prostatitis and BPH more easily.

Foods That May Help

Foods that produce several of the important vitamins listed in previous sections include those listed here.

Red and pink vegetables and fruits have high levels of lycopene, which means you can get an added dose through your meals by eating things like guava, papaya, red carrots, pink grapefruit, and any form of tomato.

Zinc keeps the prostate gland working correctly, so a deficiency can cause problems. Many foods are rich in zinc, including sesame seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and adzuki beans. Researchers found that pumpkin seeds were also useful in managing active cases of BPH.

Shellfish and fish are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids that are known to increase the metabolism to aid in weight loss. You can find them in chia seeds, canola oil, walnuts, and ground flax seeds.

Avocados, tofu, and bell peppers also have properties that make them useful for the prostate. An overall balanced diet is essential and should be accompanied by supplements and other treatments, as suggested by your doctor.

Weekly Exercise

Obesity is a risk factor for developing BPH. Having a balanced diet is one good step towards lowering that likelihood, but nothing can substitute for regular weekly exercise.

Kegels are a good exercise for men who are already experiencing some of the adverse effects of prostate enlargement. They strengthen the pelvic muscle and can help with controlling urination.

Other useful exercises include swimming, tennis, hiking, biking, jogging, or walking. These help build up muscles that can make it easier to control your bladder.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration is essential to overall health. Even though it can be tempting for men suffering from painful urination to avoid drinking the recommended amount, it is vital to keep the body fully hydrated.

Water is necessary, but if you want other types of beverages, tea is an excellent source of antioxidants and other beneficial vitamins.

FAQs

There are multiple things to consider when choosing the right supplement. We have answered some common questions about our products and how they can keep you fit. Below are questions centered around prostate health.

What is the best fruit for the prostate?

Vitamin C is one of the primary nutrients that you will find in multivitamin prostate supplements. Many fruits and vegetables have Vitamin C, but you will find high levels in citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, and pink grapefruits.

Is Beer Bad for the prostate?

Being overweight will impact your prostate in potentially damaging ways, and regularly drinking beer has been linked to weight gain. This alone is a reason to avoid drinking beer if you are worried about developing BPH.

The amount of beer you drink will impact whether you should be worried about it contributing to possible prostate problems. One study suggested a link between drinking beer once a day for decades with an increased likelihood of being diagnosed with prostate cancer. However, other studies have proven that drinking a single beer for six days or less a week will have no discernible effects on the prostate gland.

Does B12 help with anxiety?

B12 keeps the body's blood cells and nerves healthy. A deficiency can cause depression, anxiety, and even hallucinations. Once you begin taking B12 to alleviate these symptoms, it can take 48 to 72 hours before changes are noticeable. B12 supplements are also known to help with depression and osteoarthritis.

Is oatmeal good for the prostate?

Men with prostate cancer can benefit from heart healthy foods like oatmeal. This food is also a good source of antioxidants. It can improve blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels, and oatmeal can help with weight loss goals

What are the side effects of living without a prostate?

The removal of the prostate gland (e.g., a prostatectomy) can have long-term side effects for some men. These can include erectile dysfunction, incontinence, and because the gland responsible for making semen will have been removed, it will affect orgasms. Not every man will experience them after a prostatectomy.

There are some treatments that can counter these severe side effects. Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors and alprostadil are both used to regain proper erectile function.

Can an enlarged prostate go away on its own?

BPH is a part of the natural aging process for many men and may have no symptoms or only mild ones. This enlargement is entirely normal and often left untreated if it does not affect the quality of life. The growth caused by BPH is permanent, but there are some treatments that can slow it.

Other forms of prostate enlargement may be reversible if treated in time. Prostatitis, an inflammation of the gland, can be caused by infection, bladder stones, or injury, and these can all be treated. Once the inflammation is cured, the prostate returns to average size, although in some severe cases, there may be residual scarring that can permanently increase the dimension.

Factors that will determine if the prostate enlargement is reversible include what the issue is, how quickly it is treated, and what kind of treatments and supplements are used.

What foods should you avoid when you have an enlarged prostate?

Eating meat, especially red meats, on a daily basis, can more than double your risk of getting prostate cancer. Regularly eating or drinking dairy products can lead to the same percentage of BPH. These are best eaten in moderation. Eggs are linked to a high rate of fatal prostate cancer, so men should try not to eat too many eggs

Can the prostate shrink?

There are some treatments that can shrink the prostate, but they are not always applicable. For example, 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (5ARIs) injections can be taken over a stretch of time and eventually shrink the gland so that it does not put so much pressure on the urethra. This decreases difficulty with urination.

Can stress worsen BPH?

The short answer is yes. There are plenty of BPH studies showing that stress can have a noticeable effect on symptoms. Working to remove stress from your daily routine can have a positive outcome on the results of BPH. This is increased when proper nutrition and exercise are combined to create a healthy fitness routine.
