The following is a list of all Products and Health Articles on our site. We hope it will assist you in finding what you're looking for.
5-HTP
5-HTP, or 5-hydroxytryptophan, is the immediate precursor of serotonin. Low levels of serotonin are associated with sleep problems, depression, anxiety, compulsive disorders (including eating disorders), restless leg syndrome, migraines, fibromyalgia, and low pain threshold. Many people that are afflicted with one of those conditions often have others, which has led some researchers to label them collectively as "Low Serotonin Syndrome".
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha-lipoic acid (also called lipoic acid or thioctic acid) is a potent antioxidant able to deactivate both fat- and water-soluble free radicals and thereby protect both lipoproteins and membranes; no other single antioxidant can do this.
Antioxidants
Antioxidants are one of the best health supplements a person can take and an important part of a healthy nutritional regimen. We highly recommend antioxidants as part of a daily supplement regimen.
B Vitamins
The B-complex vitamins are a group of similarly structured compounds, which is why we refer to them as a "complex". This complex of chemicals consists of B1 (thiamine), B-2 (riboflavin), B-3 (niacin), B-5 (pantothenic acid), B-6 (pyridoxine), B-7 (biotin), B-12 (cobalamin), and folic acid (folate or folacin).
Bilberry Extract
Bilberry Extract is the dry extract of the European Blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus: Myrtilli fructus). Bilberry, used to improve vascular health, and shows the most promise for use in supporting the health of the eye.
Brain / Memory
Do you ever forget where you've parked your car? Walk into a room and wonder why you went in there - or lose your train of thought in the middle of a sentence? Don't panic. Forgetfulness in those over 40 is as common as wearing reading glasses. Embarrassing, frustrating lapses in memory happen to us all when there is inadequate blood and oxygen flow to the brain. The good news is, Whole Health has products that contain important nutrients proven to enhance and protect brain function - and help keep your mind clear at any age.
Calcium & Magnesium Citrate
Most of the calcium in the body is bone. But providing skeletal material is far from calcium's only role in the body. Calcium serves in nerve transmission, muscular contraction, and blood clotting. Your bones actually serve as a reservoir of calcium - calcium is added or subtracted as needed by the body, as determined by the concentration of calcium in the blood. Learn why you want the "citrate" form, and why you also need magnesium.
Calcium Pyruvate
Pyruvate is a substance that naturally occurs in the body. Pyruvate is the foundation of the Krebs Cycle, which is how the body burns sugar and starch. The faster the Krebs Cycle turns, the more energy a person has, and the more calories they burn. And, Pyruvate makes the Krebs Cycle run faster. Thus, Pyruvate plays a crucial role in this conversion of food to energy. With Calcium Pyruvate, calcium is used as the stabilizing agent for Pyruvate -- which is preferable to sodium and potassium.
Chitosan HD
Chitosan HD is produced by the hydrolysis of chitin, a naturally occurring polysaccharide component of shellfish shell and has been shown to bind fat lipids. This fat binding, lipotropic, effect may be explained by its flocculation and gelation properties in the intestinal tract. Chitosan HD™/LipoSan Ultra™ is a new, ultra-dense form of Chitosan; the "HD" meaning "high density". According to a study, Chitosan HD™ has the ability to absorb 3 to 5 times the lipids of regular Chitosan.
Circulation / Veinous Support
Just like any other system, the circulatory system relies on the nutrients you consume to function optimally. OPCs, Ginko Biloba, and Horsechestnut are just a few of the supplements that may improve circulation or support vein health.
CoEnzyme Q10
CoEnzyme Q10, also known as Ubiquinone or Ubidecarenone, and more simply CoQ10, is a powerful antioxidant with significant benefits. Recent studies have shown very promising correlations with high levels of CoEnzyme Q10 consumption and reduced symptoms (or slowed onset of symptoms) from Parkinson's Disease and Congestive Heart Disease.
Cold / Flu
In the cold and flu category you will find an assortment of herbs, vitamins and minerals which have been shown to boost your immunity and help your body resist the common cold, flu, cold sore outbreaks and other illnesses.
DHEA
DHEA / Dehydroepiandrosterone is the sole precursor hormone responsible for the production and regulation of every other steroid and sex hormone in the human body. It has recently been discovered that bodily levels of DHEA decline with age (a typical 70-year old will have about 5-10% the DHEA of what a typical 20 year old produces). While supplementing DHEA will not reverse aging (nothing will), it does seem to alleviate some of the serious problems associated with aging.
Diabetes
Approximately 21 million Americans have diabetes, and another 41 million have pre-diabetes. Whether you just found out you have diabetes or have been dealing with it for years, you can live a healthier, more active life with nutritional support. If you are at risk or have prediabetes, take control today by adding proven nutritional supplements to protect your overall health and avert the devastating problems that accompany full-blown diabetes.

DMAE
DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) is a chemical naturally produced in the human brain. It is thought to be used by the body in converting choline to the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine (i.e., it is a precursor to acetylcholine). This is the basis for thinking that supplementing with DMAE will enhance brain activity. Research so far is not compelling, but this potentially positive impact has compelled people to use DMAE for age-related mental decline and other brain maladies.
Echinacea
Echinacea, Echinacea purpurea or Echinacea angustifolia--whole plant; the above ground extract of Echinacea purpurea is traditionally used as a broad-spectrum immune system stimulant and as a natural remedy for chronic recurring vaginal yeast infections. The primary constituents responsible for echinacea's immunity activity are large sugar molecules called polysaccharides. Two in particular have been identified as beneficial: inulin and arabinogalactin.

Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM
Glucosamine is a well tolerated, natural supplement for osteoarthritis and its symptoms. Numerous double blind studies have shown that Glucosamine can produce better results in the treatment of osteoarthritis than traditional drug therapy. The main function of glucosamine is to stimulate the substances necessary for joint repair. Some people lack the ability, or have a hindered ability due to age, to manufacture glucosamine which plays a role in the onset of osteoarthritis.
Green Tea Extract
Green Tea extract is a potent antioxidant and has recently shown promising results in controlled studies, which have identified the polyphenol (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) as the responsible component. EGCG is able to force certain cancer cells to die or be killed, called "apoptosis". Further evidence shows EGCG as having an inhibitory effect on the enzyme, urokinase, which is required for tumor formation, thus preventing the formation of tumors.
Guarana Seed Extract
Guarana contains tetra methylxanthine (as much as 5.8%!), a compound almost identical to caffeine; it also contains large amounts of theophylline, theobromine, tannic acid and is rich in saponins. The ingredients are released slowly--over as much as 6 hours--so the energy boost that is experienced from Guarana is not like that of coffee (with a sudden rush and quick drop-off), but continues to escalate over hours. The tannic acid is astringent and helps as a digestive tonic.

L-Carnitine
L-carnitine is used by the body to transport long chain fatty acids to the mitochondria in your cells, where they are burned for energy. Since this fat burning is such a major source of muscular energy, deficiencies in either compound may be manifested as low energy levels and muscular weakness.
L-Carnitine Fumarate
L-Carnitine increases muscle strength and energy, and helps the body to burn fat more efficiently. Athletes, vegans and vegetarians use it to either help lose weight or improve heart and liver health. L-Carnitine seems to help support a healthy heart, and it is well known to help in the treatment of heart pain (usually induced by physical stress). L-Carnitine can also help to prevent fatty build-ups in the heart and liver.
Liver Health
Menopause Support
Menopause is a non-event for many women, but for those who suffer symptoms, it is a trying time. Many women are prevented from participating in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as treatment for menopause, or they simply do not want it. Black Cohosh or our Menopause Support Formula may provide these women with an effective alternative.

MSM
MSM is used as a dietary supplement to provide our bodies with needed sulfur. Supplementing with MSM may help to reduce the pain of arthritis, muscle soreness and cramping, and to alleviate allergies. MSM may help relieve joint pain and swelling - without the stomach damage, rebound pain, and joint damage associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's), such as ibuprofen. But not all MSM is the same - only Lignisul™ brand MSM is guaranteed at least 99.7% pure.
Multi's
We've got a multivitamin for everyone, and ever multi we make is the best it can be. We don't cut corners. We use premium quality ingredients in all our products, multivitamins included! Our tablets are cold-press tablets. High temperatures can damage, if not ruin many vitamins. Many of the popular store brands are hot-press tablets. That makes the tablets stick together well, but renders the multivitamin essentially worthless.
Multivitamins
Multivitamins combined with a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and veggies are the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. Our multivitamin supplements include a women's multi, a men's multi, an all-natural children's multi, a prenatal multi plus general multis.
Myristin CM/CMO & Myrist-Aid
Cetyl Myristoleate, also known as CM or CMO, was discovered by Harry W. Diehl. Diehl took a fatty acid, myristoleic acid, and combined it with a fatty alcohol molecule, cetyl alcohol, creating an ester of that fatty acid called cetyl myristoleate. He discovered that it was the presence of this compound in swiss albino mice that prevented them from developing joint problems.1 Diehl's laboratory experiments on CM were published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences in March, 1994.
According to the manufacturer of the only patented CM, Myristin®, a 17-day course could provide relief for years (some people may require a longer course.)

OPC Grape Seed Extract
OPC's (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) Grape Seed Extracts are a set of bioflavonoid complexes (specifically, phloroglucinol polyphenols) that perform as free radical scavengers in the human body. OPC bioflavonoids were first noticed in the laboratory because they have the uncanny ability to strengthen blood vessel walls within hours after taking them. Our OPC Grape Seed Extract is naturally extracted, so there are NO chemical or solvent residues. It is a 120 seed per milligram extract (120:1), which is the highest in the industry.

Phase 2® Starch Blockers
Supplements sold as "starch blockers" or "carb blockers" are really starch-enzyme blockers; they inhibit the body's production of the starch-digesting enzyme, alpha-amylase. With lessened amounts of alpha-amylase, the body is less able to break down starches (carbohydrates) into sugar (glucose) for further digestion.
PMS Relief
PMS can present itself in varying degrees for many woman, from mild bloating to severe stomach craps, headaches, and irritability, just to name a few of the many symptoms. Fortunately there are many natural remedies that may help subdue these symptoms.

Prior, during and after pregnancy a woman's body has special needs as does a developing fetus. Make sure you're getting enough of what you and your baby need with a quality prenatal vitamin.
Prostate Health
50 to 60% of men will experience benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the swelling of the prostate gland. As the prostate gland swells and pinches closed the urethra, problems emerge: painful urination, decreased flow, nocturnal urination, etc.--these are clearly unpleasant symptoms.
Resveratrol Supplements & Products
Resveratrol is a phenolic compound (a resorcinal polyphenol) that has been found to have strong antioxidant activity. Plants create resveratrol to protect themselves against the effects of poor growing conditions and severe weather. Resveratrol has been shown to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
SAM-e / SAMe (S-Adenosyl Methionine)
SAMe supplementation increases levels of serotonin, dopamine and phosphatides, and improves serotonin and dopamine receptor site binding. Interestingly, treatment with antidepressant drugs that results in improved mood usually also results in increased levels of SAMe, regardless of the drug used. SAMe has been shown in a number of studies to bring arthritis pain relief comparable to that of the oft-prescribed NSAID's, naproxin and piroxicam - without their side effects.
Saw Palmetto / Prostate Health
Saw Palmetto provides Prostate Relief. Fifty to sixty percent of men will experience benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the swelling of the prostate gland, at some point in their life. As the prostate gland swells and pinches closed the urethra, problems emerge: painful urination, decreased flow, and frequent nocturnal urination. These are clearly unpleasant symptoms. Saw Palmetto has a track record in reducing the severity of BPH in mild to moderate cases that is better than finasteride, the most commonly prescribed drug for BPH.

PABA, inositol and choline are often included in this group. B vitamins provide health of the skin, bones, hair and muscle; relief of moodiness, restlessness, irritability, and fatigue; relief from skin problems, including dry, itchy skin, rashes and relief from PMS.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C has, arguably, received more clinically attention than any other nutrient. And for good reason, vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidant vitamins that is currently known.
Additionally, research has indicated that vitamin C may help protect against a wide range of health disorders, including immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease and there may be more potential benefits yet discovered.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a popular and powerful antioxidant. Vitamin E is effective in preventing the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Additionally, Vitamin E is helpful in the prevention of oxidation in the lungs, where strong oxidizing agents nitrogen dioxide and ozone, components of air pollution, are particularly harmful to people exercising. Vitamin E protects white and red blood cells, helping the body's immune system. Ours is a natural, not synthetic form of Vitamin E.

5-HTP (Griffonia Seed Extract), 100mg (60 capsules)
5-HTP, or 5-hydroxytryptophan, is the immediate precursor of serotonin. Low levels of serotonin are associated with sleep problems, depression, anxiety, compulsive disorders (including eating disorders), restless leg syndrome, migraines, fibromyalgia, and low pain threshold. Many people that are afflicted with one of those conditions often have others, which has led some researchers to label them collectively as "Low Serotonin Syndrome".
5-HTP is a natural product, extracted from the seed of the Griffonia simplicifolia plant.

Acai Palmberry Powder, Organic, 500mg (60 capsules)
Açai palmberry (pronounced ah-SAH’-ee) is a the fruiting body of the acai palm (Euterpe oleracea). Acai naturally occur throughout the Amazon basin. The trees grow 50 to 100 feet high and produce a massive cluster of fruit - 700 to 900 individual grape-sized fruits to the cluster. The fruit is an important food source, not only to the native peoples of the Amazon, but through out much of Brazil. A 1999 study of three Amazonian populations found that acai made up as much as 42% (by weight) of the people's diet.1 Not entirely surprising, when one considers both the availability of acai and its nutritional value.
Acai is often categorized as a "superfruit." This term refers to nutrient-dense fruit, something which definitely applies to acai. Acai is rich in antioxidants, amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. A recent study of a freeze-dried acai powder found that its breakdown of macronutrients is approximately 52% carbohydrate (42% of the carbohydrate is fiber), 8% protein, and 32% fat. The fat portion is largely in the form of omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids. Oleic acid makes up 56% of the total fat content and linoleic acid makes up about 12% of the fat content. Amino acids make up the bulk of the remaining dry weight, about 7%.2.
Acetyl L-Carnitine, 500mg (60 capsules)
Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a carnitine derivative and an ammonium compound derived from the amino acid Lysine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is not an amino acid in the strict sense, however Acetyl-L-Carnitine bears many resemblances to amino acids and is usually grouped under this heading or is referred to as a "pseudo" amino acid. Both Acetyl L-Carnitine and L-Carnitine are used by the body to transport long chain fatty acids to the mitochondria in your cells, where they are burned for energy.14,34,35 Since this fat burning is such a major source of muscular energy, deficiencies in either compound are manifested as low energy levels and muscular weakness. Acetyl-L-Carnitine deficiencies can also appear as mental confusion or cloudiness.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine can be manufactured in the body provided the requisite vitamins and minerals are also present. These vitamins and minerals are B1, B6, C, and iron. Most importantly the amino acids lysine and methionine and CoEnzyme A must be present for Acetyl-L-Carnitine synthesis. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is also present in meats and dairy, so if you are a vegetarian or vegan you may want to consider supplementing with Acetyl-L-Carnitine. This would be especially important if you are an athlete, since you are using lots of Acetyl-L-Carnitine & L-Carnitine during periods of exertion. 43,44

Anti-Inflammatory Support contains the most promising inflammation-fighting natural ingredients from several forms of traditional medicine that have had validation from Western science. This all-natural, all-vegetarian formula is designed to help manage inflammation from multiple sources, including seasonal allergies, injury and the normal day-to-day wear-and-tear that we all suffer from as we age.
Researchers and scientists are only now starting to discover the role chronic inflammation plays in disease. This formulation may help the body manage that inflammation with natural ingredients, like Boswellia serrata extract, curcumin (the yellow pigment from turmeric) and ginger root extract. These ingredients are all used in the ancient Indian tradition of Ayervedic Medicine to control inflammation and soothe aches and pains. This formula also includes Bromelain, an enzyme extracted from pineapples that is commonly given to people undergoing cosmetic surgery to reduce post-operational swelling.
AntiOxidantHealth™, 600mg blend (120 capsules)
What the heck is an antioxidant and why should I care? An antioxidant is a substance that reduces the oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
What are free radicals? Free radicals are unstable atoms or molecules with at least one unpaired electron. These atoms or molecules with unpaired electrons go looking for another electron to pair up with. If they find an electron, they take it. That makes them stable now, but it makes the atoms or molecules that they took the electron from, unstable. This makes for a new, Free Radical. Additionally, the serious damage from Free Radicals seems to come in the act of searching for, piercing into and taking electrons from cells. This 'oxidization' activity damages cell structures, particularly the cellular plasma membranes. Plasma cell membranes are natural gate keepers for cells, deciding what comes and goes within the cell. Damaging the plasma cell membrane and/or having the presence of free radicals in the cell, can damage the cell's ability to generate energy (in the mitochondria organelles), damage the cell's nucleus and/or damage the cell's DNA. Through this process the use and movement of nutrients, oxygen, water, waste products and toxins can also be hindered.
Apple Cider Vinegar, 600mg (60 tablets)
Apple cider vinegar has been used for thousands of years as a traditional treatment for many ailments. Reported apple cider vinegar benefits include appetite control, diuretic effect and fat metabolism. Our Apple Cider Vinegar product is formulated as coated tablets for stability.
Arches Tinnitus Relief Formula (100 capsules)
Arches Tinnitus Relief Formula was specifically designed for the relief of ringing in the ears. Arches Tinnitus Relief Formula uses the highest quality premium-grade ingredients. Only premium-grade Ginkgo biloba extract, naturally grown without use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, will be effective. Only amino-acid-chelated zinc will absorb easily. Garlic helps to manage blood pressure, control stress, and reduce deposits of cholesterol which can be found in the small artery leading to the inner ear. Many individuals will experience a reduction of symptoms within eight weeks. Renowned tinnitus authority, Michael Seidman, MD, states that it is important to take 2 capsules twice daily for at least 100 days (4 bottles) in order to determine the total degree of relief that can be achieved.
For vegetarians and for those who don't mind taking multiple products, we offer these key ingredients in our Tinnitus Relief Kit which is comprised of the following individual products:
- 1 bottle of Ginkgo Biloba Extract, 120 vegicaps, 120mg 24%/6% extract plus 240mg whole ground Ginkgo;
- 1 bottle of OptiZinc® brand Zinc, 60 vegicaps, 25mg; and
- 1 bottle of Pur-Gar® brand Garlic, 60 vegicaps, 600mg.
The above combination of products provide a 30 days' supply of the key ingredients (when the consumer takes 2 Ginkgo caps, 1 Garlic and 1 Zinc, twice daily) in a more economical, though somewhat less convenient, package.
Bilberry Extract, 135mg (60 capsules)
The anthocyanidins in bilberry decrease vascular permeability.5,7,13,17 How this works is not quite understood yet, but it seems that bilberry anthocyanidins interact with blood vessel collagen in such a way as to slow down enzymatic attack of the blood vessel wall.17 This may prevent leakage of capillaries, decreasing ocular pressure and relieving painful edemas. Truly impressive in its vascular benefits, bilberry seems to work much like horsechestnut and ginkgo in its ability to relieve vascular insufficiency, and like grape seed in its affinity for the capillaries. These microcirculatory improvements have wide ranging health benefits, as one might expect: bilberry improves peripheral circulation and eye health at the same time.

Black Cohosh Root, 330mg (60 capsules)
Menopause is a non-event for many women, but for those who suffer symptoms, it is a trying time. Many women are prevented from participating in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as treatment for menopause, or they simply do not want it. Black Cohosh may provide these women with a safe, cost-effective, and clinically proven alternative.
Black Cohosh Root (Cimicifuga racemosa: Cimicifugae racemosae rhizoma) is most often used for PMS discomfort, dysmenorrhea, menopause. Black Cohosh is a phytoestrogen and seems to suppress leutinizing hormones. Black Cohosh has been shown in numerous studies to be both safe and effective, and is widely used in Europe and the US to relieve the symptoms commonly associated with PMS and menopause (particularly hot flashes, menstrual cramps, changes to the vaginal lining and even low mood).
Be sure that you do not confuse black cohosh with the similar-sounding, but unrelated plant blue cohosh, which is not safe; for more on blue cohosh, please see our "Products We Do NOT Sell" page.

Calcium Pyruvate, 750mg (300 capsules)
Pyruvate is a substance that naturally occurs in the body. Pyruvate is the foundation of the Krebs Cycle, which is how the body burns sugar and starch. The faster the Krebs Cycle turns, the more energy a person has, and the more calories they burn. And, Pyruvate makes the Krebs Cycle run faster. Thus, Pyruvate plays a crucial role in this conversion of food to energy. With Calcium Pyruvate, calcium is used as the stabilizing agent for Pyruvate, as discussed below.

Used when fiber and other dietary lifestyle changes fail, Cascara Sagrada can provide a quick, natural laxative solution.
Cayenne / Capsaicin, 450mg (100 capsules)
Killer Cayenne! Spices kill food-borne pathogens, but they also seem to limit plasma fibrinogen, a blood-clotting factor, which may be a reason that people in 'spice-consuming cultures' have a lower level of strokes and cardio disease.
Think about spicy foods. Now, think about the countries from which they originate. It was recently found that there is a high correlation between hot foods and hot climates.1 The reason? Spices kill food borne pathogens, which are more likely to occur in hot climates. People in hot climates have evolved to prefer spicier foods! Not only are spices more common in hot climates, but those spices that are most effective at killing food borne pathogens are those that are used most often in spicy recipes.1

Chitosan HD, 500mg (220 capsules)
Chitosan HD is produced by the hydrolysis of chitin, a naturally occurring polysaccharide component of shellfish shell and has been shown to bind fat lipids. This fat binding, lipotropic, effect may be explained by its flocculation and gelation properties in the intestinal tract. Chitosan HD™/LipoSan Ultra™ is a new, ultra-dense form of Chitosan; the 'HD' meaning 'high density'. According to a study, Chitosan HD™ has the ability to absorb 3 to 5 times the lipids of regular Chitosan.
Chol-X® Cardio Formula with Phytosterols & Policosanol -- All New Formula!
Chol-X® High Potency Cardio Support Formula is a unique combination of natural ingredients proven to help support heart health and help promote a healthy cardiovascular system. Chol-X® contains plant phytosterols, policosanol, green tea extract, garlic, and a combination of vitamins which are crucial to heart health.
LOWER CHOLESTEROL NATURALLY!‡
Phytosterols, also called free plant sterols, are the structural components in the cell membranes of plants. Plant sterols naturally occur in relatively low levels in many plant oils, nuts, fruits and vegetables.
Clinical studies have shown that a diet high in phytosterols and low in fat can lower the risk of heart disease.‡
Phytosterols lower heart disease risk by reducing serum cholesterol levels. Clinical studies have found that phytosterols can reduce serum LDL or "bad" cholesterol levels and total cholesterol levels but do not affect HDL or "good" cholesterol levels. These studies have found that phytosterols may significanly reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol when consumed daily for one or more months.
Policosanol refers to a group of 3 or more solid alcohols. Our policosanol is derived from sugar cane wax. Policosanol is remarkably safe and has a good track record at reducing cholesterol levels, and at reducing platelet aggregation.
It is largely believed that green tea extract's health benefits are due to the high levels of anti-oxidant compounds, polyphenols. Polyphenol compounds appear to help prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. It is the oxidation of LDL cholesterol that leads to atherosclerotic plaques, and that is one of the reasons why there is increased emphasis on antioxidants in the diet.

CortiFit™ Cortisol Control Formula (120 capsules)
CortiFit is an all natural weight management product designed to help manage cortisol levels in the body. While this has become a popular method of weight loss over the last several years, it should be noted that this is a growing area of research, and as such much of what we know is still theoretical. While many believe that controlling cortisol is a important to controlling certain types of weight gain, the volume of research in that area is still somewhat limited. That's not to say there hasn't been research on this topic, there has, but there has not been much in the way of randomized, double blind placebo controlled studies, the "gold standard" of clinical research. However we think the theory does seem to make some sense. To that end we've taken a multi-tiered approach to potentially helping you reduce cortisol and manage your weight.
Cranberry Ultra, (60 capsules)
Cranberry is the red acidic fruit of the shrubby viburnum of North America and Europe. A long-standing folk remedy for urinary infection, there is actual science to this use of cranberry. Cranberry contains components that prevent the ability of e-coli and other infectious agents to adhere to the lining of the urethra and bladder.1,2 Without the ability to adhere, these agents cannot infect.
Unfortunately, the sugars present in sweetened cranberry juice may actually harm your immune system, and since unsweetened cranberry juice is so difficult to come by and extremely tart, encapsulated extract is the preferred means for taking cranberry.
Dennis Scott's Max-A-drin brand Celadrin®, 350mg (90 softgels)-- Out of Stock
Looking for Celadrin? Try Myristin CM/CMO, the original patented Cetylated Fatty Acid instead.
The active component in Max-A-Drin™ is Celadrin®, a mixture of esterified fatty acid carbons (EFACs, also called cetylated fatty acids) that may reduce the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis and improve range of motion.1,2,3 The esterification process makes it possible for the fatty acids to be dissolved in water, increasing their absorption by the body. A study published in the Journal of Rheumatology in 2002 found that it "provides an improvement in knee range of motion and overall function in patients with [osteoarthritis] of the knee," and concluded that it "may be an alternative to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of [osteoarthritis]."1
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), 25mg (60 capsules)
DHEA / Dehydroepiandrosterone is the precursor hormone responsible for the production and regulation of every other steroid and sex hormone. While supplementing DHEA will not reverse aging (nothing will), it does seem to alleviate some of the serious problems associated with aging.
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), 25mg (90 capsules)
DHEA / Dehydroepiandrosterone is the sole precursor hormone responsible for the production and regulation of every other steroid and sex hormone in the human body. DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol), 150mg (60 capsules)
DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) is a chemical naturally produced in the human brain. It may increase the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. Research so far is not compelling, but the potentially positive impact has led people to use DMAE for age-related mental decline and other brain maladies. It is thought to be used by the body in converting choline to the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine (i.e., it is a precursor to acetylcholine). This is the basis for thinking that supplementing with DMAE will enhance brain activity.
Over the past few years DMAE has become very popular for skin health. It is believed that by increasing the skin's pathways for acetylcholine, DMAE increases the ability of skin cells to contract, improving skin texture.

Echinacea & Goldenseal, 250mg each (60 capsules)
An extract of the above ground plant of Echinacea purpurea is traditionally used as a broad-spectrum immune system stimulant and as a natural remedy for chronic recurring vaginal yeast infections. The primary constituents responsible for echinacea's immunity activity are large sugar molecules called polysaccharides. Two in particular have been identified as beneficial: inulin and arabinogalactin. This formula has Echinacea purpurea combined with Goldenseal to enhance the potency of the Echinacea.
Goldenseal is the root of Hydrastis canadensis.
Goldenseal contains an alkaloid called berberine that is antibiotic against Streptococci and also prevents the attachment of Streptococci to the throat. Berberine is also antifungal (works well against Candida albicans, especially when used in combination with Echinacea) and strongly anti-diarrheal. It works wonders in combination with Echinacea and Zinc lozenges, particularly at the onset of symptoms. Goldenseal, Echinacea and Zinc lozenges should be in every medicine cabinet!1,2,3,4,5,6

Goji Berry Extract, Organic, 500mg (60 capsules)
Goji (Lycium barbarum) has been lauded as "one of the most nutritionally dense foods on Earth" because by weight these little berries contain 500 times more vitamin C than oranges, have more beta-carotene than carrots, more iron than spinach.1 They also contain, zeaxanthin, calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, germanium, vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E. Goji is also a powerful antioxidant.1 Goji juice also contains 19 amino acids including all nine of the essential amino acids (histidine, isoeucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine).
However the most significant component of Goji may be it's polysaccharide content. Recent research indicates that polysaccharides may have numerous benefits in the body including immune and inflammation regulation.2 Animal studies have show that these polysaccharides may protect the liver and kidneys from age-related oxidative stress.3,4 Another animal study has indicated that these same polysaccharides may be beneficial in improving insulin resistance caused by diabetes.5 More interesting yet is a 2006 study that suggested that the polysaccharides improved the antioxidant action of the antioxidants that naturally occur in goji and may prevent DNA damage associated with oxidative stress.6
Green Tea Extract, 500mg (120 capsules)
Green Tea extract is a potent antioxidant and has recently shown promising results in controlled studies, identifying the polyphenol (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) as the responsible component. EGCG is able to force certain cancer cells to die or be killed; forcing the cancer cells to die, called "apoptosis". Further evidence shows EGCG as having an inhibitory effect on the enzyme, urokinase, which is required for tumor formation, thus preventing the formation of tumors.

Guarana Seed Extract, 400mg (180 capsules)
The ground seed kernel of the tropical plant, Paullinia Cupana var. Sorbilis.
The first record of the use of Guaraná dates all the way back to 1669! It was this year that a Jesuit missionary named J. Felipe Betendorf visited an area deep in the Amazon Basin where the Maué Indians were found using it as a daily tonic/stimulant. These Indians and the white settlers who lived with them lauded the beverage for its ability to ward off headaches, relieve cramps and fevers, and as an aphrodisiac. Maybe most responsible for its popularity was the belief by these people that their daily usage helped to prevent malaria and dysentery. It is still consumed today for all of these reasons.
For What Is Guarana Used?
- Appetite suppressant
- Smoking cessation
- Energy booster / stimulant
- Commercially as a flavoring in soft drinks

Guggulsterones act to reduce LDL and triglycerides (and may increase HDL). Guggulsterones increase the liver's capacity to pick up and eliminate LDL from the blood stream. Guggulsterone stereoisomers -E and -Z are FXR bile acid receptor antagonist ligands. It is also a very good antioxidant.

Kava Kava Root Extract, 30% Full-Spectrum, 200mg (150 capsules)
Kava Kava Root (the root of the Piper Methylsticum plant) has been used both ceremonially and casually in many south Pacific islands, such as Tahiti, Hawaii, Fiji, the Micronesian Islands, and Samoa Extract, since well before the first European contact. Traditional preparation involves chewing the rhizome, spitting the masticated root into a bowl, filtering it and drinking it in one gulp. If you're like us, right now you're thinking that you would probably prefer encapsulated Kava over the traditional preparation.
Studies show that Kava Kava has the unique ability to promote a calming effect while increasing mental acuity. Kava appears to act on the brain's limbic system, an altogether different mode of action from typical anxiolytic drugs, which bind to the brain's GABA receptors. Kava's more general mode of action probably explains its wide variety of effects on the body. Much more on this appears below.

LeptiFit Leptin Control Formula, (60 capsules)
Our new LeptiFit™ Leptin Control Formula is a complex blend of polysaccharides, polyphenols, fatty acids, and amino acids that work synergistically to increase weight loss by increasing satiety (the feeling of being full), decreasing leptin resistance, reducing C-Reactive Protein levels, and decreasing inflammation. Two of the core steps to loosing weight are controlling hunger and inflammation.
The science behind this product is rather complex. Leptin is a hormone produced by adipocytes (fat cells) that regulates body fat storage by modulating satiety, glycemic control and metabolism. When everything is working properly, leptin helps to keep adipose tissue (fat) within a normal, healthy range. However, diet and stress can lead to chronic inflammation and leptin resistance--chronic inflammation increases levels of C-Reactive Protein which binds to leptin, preventing it from doing its job. When leptin resistance occurs, the body does not get the signal to stop eating, leaving one feeling hungry even after having consumed enough calories. LeptiFit™ is designed to help reduce leptin resistance, allowing leptin to properly control hunger. As an added bonus, LeptiFit™ naturally reduces C-Reactive Protein, which is an indicator of heart disease risk. That's a double-benefit to cardiovascular health: weight loss, and reduced C-Reactive Protein levels.

Melatonin, 3mg (120 tablets)
Melatonin is a hormone derived from serotonin and produced in the pineal gland during periods of darkness, but not light. Melatonin produces the feeling of sleepiness that sets upon us when night falls. Exposure to light results in a rapid breakdown of melatonin. It has been found in many well conducted studies that melatonin can help you get to sleep faster and reduces the number of times you wake up during the night. It restores your own body's natural sleep cycle.
Memory Support Kit - Silver
We all know someone—a relative, a friend or a friend's parent—who has suffered cognitive impairment. And maybe you're beginning to worry that you just aren't as sharp as you used to be. But there's much you can do to protect your brain and try to reverse damage that's already been done. Recent research has suggested that dietary factors play an important role in supporting and maintaining healthy brain function throughout life.
Although there is no cure for debilitating cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, nutritional supplements hold promise for supporting brain health, and at least delaying the onset of degenerative diseases believed to be caused, in part, by free radical damage.
The ingredients in our Silver Memory Support Kit help support healthy blood circulation, provide potent antioxidant protection and may reduce risk of dementia in the elderly.*
Our Silver Memory Support Kit (a 60-day supply for most people) includes the following products:
*Very limited preliminary scientific research suggests that phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of dementia in the elderly. FDA concludes that there is little scientific evidence supporting this claim.

- We used mixed carotenoids for vitamin A, which are both antioxidants and readily convert to vitamin A as your body needs it;

Myristin® CM + ReJoin™ + Milk Thistle
Cetyl Myristoleate, also known as CM or CMO, was discovered by Harry W. Diehl. Diehl took a fatty acid, myristoleic acid, and combined it with a fatty alcohol molecule, cetyl alcohol, creating an ester of that fatty acid called cetyl myristoleate. He discovered that it was the presence of this compound in swiss albino mice that prevented them from developing joint problems.1 Diehl's laboratory experiments on CM were published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences in March, 1994.
According to the manufacturer of the only patented CM, Myristin, just one 20-day course (some people may require longer) could provide relief for years.
Myristin® CM/CMO (120 capsules)
Cetyl Myristoleate, also known as CM or CMO, was discovered by Harry W. Diehl, working alone in his home lab.

The extract of the leaf of the olive tree, Olive Leaf Extract's active component is a phenolic compound known as oleuropein. Combine a fatty acids product, such as our Omega 3 Marine Lipids with Grape Seed Extract and Olive Leaf Extract and you have, essentially, a portable version of the Mediterranean Diet.
Omega 3 Fish Oils, 1000mg (90 softgels)
Omega 3 Fish oil is an Essential Fatty Acid. You need Essential Fatty Acids to live, and while most people are not so deficient that they are facing a life or death situation, many are in a state of chronic low levels of EFAs due to their not always healthy diet. EFAs are needed for maintaining proper cell membrane structure--which allows the proper distribution of nutrients throughout your body. They are also needed for proper prostaglandin formation and maintenance, and most notably for the efficient metabolism of cholesterol.
OPC Grape Seed Extract, 180mg blend (180 capsules)
Our OPC Grape Seed Extract is a powerful combination of a 120:1 grape seed extract, grape skin extract, and red wine extract. OPC's (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) are a set of bioflavonoid complexes that perform as free radical scavengers in the human body. OPC bioflavonoids were first noticed in the laboratory because they have the uncanny ability to strengthen blood vessel walls within hours after taking them.
Many names refer to this set of bioflavonoids, including OPC's, Oligomeric Procyanidolic Complexes, leuco anthocyanin, anthocyanidin and still others. We will refer to them as OPC's for the duration of this discussion.
What Does OPC Grape Seed Extract Do and How Does It Work?
OPC's are types of very powerful bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are parts of plants that are actually assimilated into our body tissues when we consume them. It was, in fact, this very ability that led to their discovery. OPC bioflavonoids were first noticed in the laboratory because they have the uncanny ability to strengthen blood vessel walls within hours after taking them! The person responsible for their discovery was a French scientist named Dr. Jacques Masquelier, who first tested bioflavonoid containing peanuts on lab animals and discovered that their blood vessel walls would double in strength only hours after eating them. His discovery was made in 1948. In 1951, this same doctor extracted OPC's from pine bark.
In 1970, Dr. Masquelier obtained yet another patent for these bioflavonoids - a far more potent product. It is the grape seed extract that you may have heard about, and it is a powerful substance indeed.

Phase 2 Cr® Starch Blocker Plus, 500mg (90 capsules)
Supplements sold as "starch blockers" or "carb blockers" are really starch-enzyme blockers; they inhibit the body's production of the starch-digesting enzyme, alpha-amylase. With lessened amounts of alpha-amylase, the body is less able to break down starches (carbohydrates) into sugar (glucose) for further digestion. That's how starch blockers work - at least on a theoretical level.
Phaseolamin Phase 2® Cr (Phaseolus vulgaris extract) starch blocker is an alpha-amylase inhibitor with foodbound™ chromium. Dietary chromium is necessary for sugar metabolism. Research indicates that supplementing with a small amount of chromium may improve sugar metabolism and enhance weight loss.

Simply, it is the extract of the mushroom, Ganoderma lucidum, also called "reishi" in Japan, or "ling zhi" in china. Ling zhi means "spirit plant", and in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) this mushroom is considered to be of the highest class of tonics. In the Orient this mushroom has a 4,000 year history for use in an unusually wide range of ailments, but is particularly renowned for its use in hepatitis and other diseases of the liver and for promoting longevity. Triterpene-rich reishi mushroom is also reputed to reduce hypertension.
In recent years the focus of research with Reishi is it's apparent immuno-enhancing and anti-tumor activities. While the exact mechanism is still unknown, a large numbers of studies have shown that reishi may modulate many components of the immune system such as the antigen-presenting cells, NK cells, T and B lymphocytesm, which are pivotal to initiating a primary immune response. It is believed that it may be through this immune modulation that reishi's apparent anti-tumor effect may be achieved. To that end a 2005 study found that reishi polysaccharides "effectively promote the activation and maturation of immature dendritic cells" which interact with and stimulate T and B cells, yielding further evidence that Reishi's value comes from it's ability to enhance immunity response.7,8,9
Of all the diseases reishi is reputed to treat, we will mention only the applications we feel are best documented; volumes have been written on this medicinal.

SAM-e, 200mg (blister-packed, 30 tablets), with Vitamin B Complex
S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAM-e or SAMe; pronounced "sammy") is an amino acid. SAM-e was discovered in 1952 in Italy, where it is manufactured. Until recently, it was exceedingly expensive to produce, and therefore unavailable to the public, although it is fairly well studied. It is manufactured in the brain from another amino acid, methionine. SAM-e is the most active methyl-donor in your body, meaning it donates methyl groups to other chemical compounds in your body including neurotransmitters, changing them into other compounds. SAM-e is then "recycled" through an ongoing re-methylation process - more on this below.
